Spectacled Bear Grant

Bear Grounds Coffee Co. is providing its first award toward bear conservation with the Spectacled Bear Grant in 2026. This funding is for research, rehabilitation, spectacled bear or territory conservation efforts only. One applicant will receive $200 to support their project.

Eligible projects include, but are not limited to:

  • Scientific research and field studies.
  • Wildlife rehabilitation and rescue programs.
  • Habitat protection and restoration.
  • Community-based conservation initiatives.
  • Anti-poaching and human–bear conflict mitigation efforts.
  • Sustainable coexistence programs.

Who is Eligible

  • Researchers and scientists.
  • Conservation organizations.
  • Wildlife rehabilitation centers.
  • Community-based conservation groups.
  • Local community organizations.

Who is Not Eligible

  • Projects unrelated to spectacled bears or their habitat.
  • General operating expenses not tied to a specific bear conservation project.
  • Fundraising campaigns or donor development.
  • Political advocacy or lobbying.
  • Projects outside the spectacled bear range.

Application Requirements

To apply, applicants must submit the following:

  1. Project proposal including:
    • Project goals and objectives.
    • Methods and timeline.
    • Expected outcomes and conservation impact.
    • Location and habitat details.
    • Team and partner information.
  2. Budget
    • Clear breakdown of how funds will be used.
    • Total project cost and other funding sources (if applicable).
  3. Proof of organization or affiliation
    • Nonprofit status, university affiliation, or letter of support.
    • For individuals: a CV and reference letter.
  4. Optional supporting materials
    • Photos, maps, letters of support, previous research, or project reports.

Award announced: 30 April 2026

Selection Process

Applications will be reviewed by a panel of conservation experts and Bear Grounds Coffee Co. representatives.
Grant recipients will be selected based on:

  • Conservation impact and feasibility.
  • Clarity of goals and methods.
  • Budget transparency.
  • Sustainability and long-term benefits.
  • Alignment with spectacled bear conservation priorities.

Reporting

Grant recipients will be required to provide an initial report within 3 months after receiving funding including:

  • Progress update.
  • Outcomes and impact.
  • Photos or documentation.
  • Final budget summary.

Permissions & Consent (Required)

By submitting this application, you agree to the following:

  • Bear Grounds Coffee Co. may publicly share information about your project, including the project name, summary, and outcomes.
  • Bear Grounds Coffee Co. may use your organization’s name and logo on our website and social media to highlight grant recipients.
  • Bear Grounds Coffee Co. may share photos or updates provided by you to demonstrate impact.
  • You confirm that you have the right to provide any logos or photos submitted, and that sharing them does not violate any third-party rights.
